Growing in trays: what changes when you switch from loose media
For microgreens, wheatgrass and other tray crops, soil and coco coir both grow well. The difference is in the handling: prep before seeding, cleanup at harvest, and what's left over afterwards.

Questions from growers
Do the pre-cut mats fit standard 1020 trays?
Yes. The 10″ × 20″ mats are cut to fit standard 1020 trays. Use a tray with a raised pattern in the bottom so air can circulate under the mat.
Which crops grow best on hemp mats?
Small-seeded microgreens such as arugula, broccoli, cress and radish, plus wheatgrass and sprouts. For large seeds like sunflower and pea shoots, some growers prefer a deeper medium. A sample is the quickest way to check your crop list.
How should I water?
Mats need watering more often than soil, and bottom-watering keeps it simple. As a starting point, mist once or twice a day and keep trays stacked in the dark for the first three days before moving them under light.
Can I cut the roll to custom sizes?
Yes. Hemp fibre is tough and will dull ordinary scissors quickly, so a rotary or powered fabric cutter works best for regular cutting.
Can mats be reused?
They're designed for one crop. After harvest, the mat and roots go into your compost or garden beds.
Do you ship to the United States?
Yes. As of today, our products aren't on the list of products subject to the additional Section 338 tariffs, but tariff and import requirements can change. See our shipping policy for the latest.
