Hemp erosion control
Engineered, high-performance natural erosion control
Engineered hemp fibre blankets deliver predictable longevity and complete biodegradability, with net-free options for wildlife-safe and environmentally sensitive sites. The fibre structure holds moisture, moderates surface temperature and creates a microclimate that supports germination, root development and long-term vegetation establishment.

Why hemp fibre performs
Fibre strength and durability
Hemp's natural fibre structure delivers tensile strength that outperforms straw and rivals synthetic options.
Predictable biodegradation
A 24 to 36 month degradation window aligns with vegetation establishment, avoiding both premature failure and persistent waste.
Net-free and wildlife-safe options
A non-trapping design is available, removing entanglement risk, avoiding microplastic contamination and making mowing and maintenance safer.
High lignin content
The natural lignin in hemp fibre resists UV degradation and helps hold structural integrity through changing weather.
Where these blankets are used
- Slope protection and steep slope stabilisation
- Channels, ditch linings and spillways
- Reservoir embankments, dikes and levees
- Culvert inlets and outfalls
- Riverbanks, shorelines and riparian restoration
- Wetlands and ecological buffers
- Highway and utility corridor slopes
- Mine and site reclamation, re-vegetation
- Trail and pathway stabilisation
- Agricultural field perimeters and regenerative farming

Proven in the field
Trusted on sensitive sites across Canada
Used by Parks Canada for trails, slopes and riparian restoration in some of the country's most sensitive environments.
Frequently asked questions
What is a non-woven mat?
A non-woven mat is made by mechanically entangling fibres into a consistent sheet rather than weaving or knitting them. We needle-punch industrial hemp into a uniform mat, which lets us tune the structure to the application instead of working around a yarn and weave.
How do hemp blankets compare with straw, coconut or synthetic mats?
Hemp fibre offers tensile strength that outperforms straw and rivals synthetic options, with a degradation window that can be matched to vegetation establishment. Unlike polypropylene, nothing persists on site after the blanket breaks down.
What weights and sizes are available?
Standard blankets are produced at 300 gsm and 500 gsm. We manufacture in-house in Drayton Valley and cut to spec, so tell us your roll width, length and project requirements and we'll confirm what we can supply.
Is a net-free option available?
Yes. A non-trapping design is available for wildlife-sensitive and environmentally sensitive sites, removing entanglement risk during establishment and maintenance.
How long will the blanket last on site?
Functional longevity is 24 months or more, with full degradation typically in a 24 to 36 month window. That's designed to carry a site through vegetation establishment and then break down rather than persist.
Do you have a specification sheet?
Yes. The full specification sheet is linked above and covers material composition, backing, reinforcement and performance data for submittals.
How does pricing work?
Pricing varies by weight, roll dimensions, volume and any customisation. Send us your project details through the form and our team will come back with a quote.
Is there a minimum order?
Minimums vary by product and specification. For large-scale erosion control projects we work with you to set quantities that suit the application and budget, and trial quantities can often be arranged.
